2020 Bridal Headpiece Trends

A new year and new decade welcome a variety of fresh wedding trends. Here is our round up on the most popular styles of wedding dresses for brides in 2020 and the best and freshest headpieces to match with them.

2020 brides are moving away from the sheer and figure hugging wedding gown styles of the past few years and are seeking elegant and simplified dresses in beautifully soft and drapey fabrics and with a cleaner streamlined, and more modest silhouette, often with a higher neckline, sleeves and less body-conscious line. Built-in capelets and sheer capes, jackets or shrugs are a fresh way to add modesty and interest to a 2020 bridal look.

These styles pair best with a streamlined headband style rather than a long veil which can over-power the simplicity of these silhouettes. Bridal headbands have very much increased in popularity for 2020 and are now available in a variety of widths and heights. Headbands with pearls and florals details are bridal favorite for the new decade.

Bridal dress designers are making use of less traditional fabrics such as point d'esprit and broderie anglaise and embellishments are subtle - favoring floral embroidery and appliques over the heavy beading of past seasons. Bows, both as an embellishment and structural part of the gown, remain very popular. We love the idea of echoing the florals or bow of a modern bridal dress in a simple headpiece.

One of the most exciting new directions for bridal outfits in 2020 is the rise of bridal separates. Pants, midi skirts, camisoles, jumpsuits and even knitwear in luxe fabrics with minimal embellishment are the choice for modern brides looking for an outfit she can wear with ease, dance all night in, and wear again after her wedding day. We love these bridal looks paired with an exaggerated silk bow headband, or, for a modern nod towards bridal tradition, a birdcage veil worn on a comfortable headband.

How To Match a New Season Coat With a Hat - Winter 2019

Winter 2019 offers so many great coat and hat styles, there's no need to be cold - or frumpy - all season long. Here's how to style some of the latest coat silhouettes with hats to match.

Check out more of our favorite coats from winter 2019 and how to pair them with a Genevieve Rose Atelier hat on our winter style Pinterest page and our new winter 2019 hat collection.

Cocoon and puffer coats are still tending well as they they have been for a few season. These are both wonderfully practical choices that you can easily layer a sweater under and the generous shapes and lengths will keep you very toasty warm. Hats have taken a similar turn towards cozy and practical cocooning styles, but rather than reaching for the usual beanie we love a cocoon or puffer coat paired with a retro-inspired turban or felt cap. Both give a slightly more polished accent to a casual coat and turbans are every bit as warm and packable as a beanie but with an added dash of vintage-inspired glamor.

Capes are having a quiet moment as an alternative trend and are a great way to layer your warmth and achieve the perfect balance of polished and casual. We suggest pairing your cape with an on-trend bucket hat to keep your look fresh, modern and casually chic.

One of our favorite trends of Winter 2019 is the daring pops of color in outerwear, sweaters and accessories. Nothing cheers up a grey late-winter day than wrapping yourself in a bright color or bold print. We say double down on the cheer and add a bright hat in a simple silhouette in a complimentary color - or power clash your brights like a pro fasionista.
