WHO MAKES MY HAT?

All hats and headpieces are made by hand, and from scratch by Genevieve in her New York Studio. Genevieve is really good at making hats but please bear in mind the handmade nature of these items mean there might be slight variations from one hat to another. These tiny, individual variations are what make a hand-made hat beautiful and unique and should be celebrated!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE MY HEADPIECE?

Most bridal accessories in sample colors and sizes (as shown on the product page) are in stock and ready to ship.

Pieces usually ship within 48 hours of an order being placed. 

Most derby hats are handmade to order by Genevieve to the highest standards. Please refer to each product for a guide to production times. 

If you need a hat quicker than the indicated production time this is usually possible. Please contact Genevieve to find out about faster production times.

WHEN WILL MY HAT SHIP? 

In stock items will usually ship within 48 hours of an order being placed. 

When your item ships you will receive a tracking number for the shipment.

HOW DO I MEASURE MY HEAD?

Use a flexible measuring tape (or piece of string or ribbon if you do not have one). Place it around your head, above your eyebrows and ears and parallel to the floor. 
To give you an idea average head sizes are as follows:
XS 22 inches / 56 cm
S 22.5 inches / 57 cm
M 23 inches / 58 cm
L 23.5 inches / 59.5 cm

CAN I CUSTOMIZE MY HEADPIECE?

Yes! Genevieve loves working on custom orders, especially unique bridal hair accessories and derby hats to match a special outfit. She can change colors, trims and sizes or make something completely original for you.

Genevieve specialized in making headpieces from the same fabric as your derby outfit or wedding dress - or even your mother's wedding dress!

Genevieve can also make hats in other sizes, including very small sizes. (Genevieve's own head measures 20.5 inches so she knows tiny heads).

CAN I VISIT YOUR STORE?

Genevieve's studio in Crown Heights, Booklyn is open by appointment.

 If you are in New York City we can bring a selection of hats and headpieces to your next dress fitting or home or office with our personal fitting service. We would love to meet with you at a time of place that is suits your schedule. 

HOW DO I TRY ON A HAT? I AM NOT IN NEW YORK CITY

Not a problem! Genevieve has nearly 10 years' experience designing, fitting and making hats and has a really good sense of what style is appropriate for what occasion and what works with a particular outfit and personality. 

Genevieve often works over the phone and through email with clients she has never met in person with great success. It can help for Genevieve to have receive a photo of your wedding dress or special occasion outfit and she might need to know your head size (see above) and hair color (so that elastics and headbands blend in properly). DOES MY HAT INCLUDE A HAT BOX?

Bridal headpieces are beautifully packaged in a Genevieve Rose Atelier gift box. 

Derby pieces ship in a basic white hat box that will protect your hat from dust and sunlight. 

DO I HAVE TO PAY SALES TAX?

Orders shipping within New York State are subject to sales tax of 8.875% which is added to your order at checkout. 

International order may be subject to customs fees which your country's customs office will charge direct to you. 

CAN I RETURN MY HAT?

We understand shopping on the internet is difficult! We hope you are happy with your purchase but if not, we ask that you drop it in the mail within 7 days of you receiving the item.

We hope you understand that customized hats and headpieces can't be returned but Genevieve will do everything in her power to make the piece perfect for you (e.g. if the size needs to be adjusted etc)
